Winter Park Public Transit Operations Facility

Known as the “Icebox of the Nation,” Fraser, Colorado recorded an average high of just -1º F in December of 2022, and it awarded ProCraft with the opportunity to help build the Winter Park Public Transit Operations Facility and install required ventilation and vehicle wash systems. Working with Saunders Construction company, we helped to bring this facility that would provide indoor bus storage, maintenance areas, and bus wash to life.

Over the course of the project, we planned to install the mechanical and plumbing equipment, vehicle exhaust systems, 30,000 sq. ft. of radiant floor heating, snowmelt, and non-potable water, along with specialty compressed air and well water treatment systems. This type of work is defined as both plan and spec, as well as design/design-build for specialty systems.

With this new building being a water-conserving facility, our responsibilities included ensuring the proper drainage within the bus wash area. The plan was to guide water from a collection pit through an Electro Coagulation Skid to “clean” the water, which is then stored in three 35,000-gallon cistern tanks for reuse by the bus wash, fire protection sprinkler system, and wildfire fire hydrant.
